Gravity die casting

In gravity die casting molten aluminium is poured right into a metallic device. The casting temperature is about 750°C. The tolerances and floor end are good. Using sand cores in gravity die casting allows casting of very advanced parts.

Magnesium Diecasting

Magnesium is flammable, burning at a temperature of approximately 2500 K and the autoignition temperature of magnesium is approximately 744 K in air. The extremely high temperature at which magnesium burns makes it a handy tool for starting emergency fires during outdoor recreation. Other related uses include flashlight photography, flares, pyrotechnics, fireworks sparklers, and incendiary bombs.

Magnesium die casting metal and its alloys are explosive hazards; they are highly flammable in their pure form when molten or in powder or in ribbon form. Burning or molten magnesium metal reacts violently with water. When working with powdered magnesium, safety glasses with welding eye protection are employed, because the bright white light produced by burning magnesium contains ultraviolet light that can permanently damage the retinas of the eyes.
